This piece is made using the traditional Huichol method, where colorful beads are individually placed on a hand-carved wooden figure. The iguana has great significance within Wixáritari cultures, representing protection for the peyote-producing lands where Huichol shamans draw inspiration to pass down elements of their culture in the absence of written history. Each piece in the Tierra Huichol store is totally unique and may differ slightly from the item pictured.
